Biography
Arantxa Cedillo was born in Madrid, Spain, in 1977. She began her photographic career when she moved to New York City in 2004 with a scholarship for young artists to study in the Photojournalism and Documentary Photography Program at the International Center of Photography. One year later, her personal project, entitled An Emergency Room, which looked into inequalities within the public health care system at New York's Bellevue Hospital, won her the prestigious Ian Parry Award.

Since then Arantxa’s work has obtained several recognitions such as the 2005 and 2006 Kiyosato Young Portfolio Acquisitions, Photography Now 2006, Special Mention Prize at the 2006 WHO International Photo Contest, 2007 and 2008 Magenta Foundation Award for Emerging Photographers and the 2008 Alexandra Boulat Scholarship TPW among others.

She has been widely published in Canada, the United States, Europe, South East Asia and the Middle East in publications such as The New York Times,The Sunday Times Magazine, Marie Claire Spain, El Pais Semanal, D Reppublica Delle Donne, The Fader Magazine, New York Magazine, The National, The Globe and Mail, Chatelaine Magazine, Maclean’s Magazine and The Walrus among others. Her work has been exhibited in Japan, East Timor, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, the United States and Canada.

She is currently based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and her work is represented by Getty Images Global Assignment, Focus Agentur, Cosmos Agency and Redux Pictures.
